Mac Data Recovery: MacBook, iMac and Mac mini

Will your Mac not power on, not start up, or does it ask for the password and never finish starting? We recover information from MacBook, iMac, Mac mini and external Mac drives, including FileVault-encrypted ones when you have your password or recovery key. On Macs with a T2 chip or Apple silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4), the storage is on the logic board: we evaluate the whole computer and, when the fault is on the board, we repair it so the information can be extracted.

When do you need this service?

  • A Mac that will not power on, or switched off and will not come back on
  • A Mac that never finishes starting up or stays on the Apple logo
  • A MacBook with a liquid spill
  • An external drive or Time Machine backup that no longer opens
  • A Mac with FileVault that does not accept the password or the key
  • Files deleted by mistake

Technical process

  1. You tell us which Mac it is (model and year) and what happened
  2. Technical evaluation of the whole computer in the laboratory (it has a cost)
  3. On Intel Macs and external drives: recovery of access to the data and extraction of a binary copy
  4. On Macs with a T2 chip or Apple silicon: if the fault is on the logic board, we repair it so the computer starts up again
  5. Extraction of the information and delivery to the owner or to whoever you authorize

Frequently asked questions

Which Macs do you handle?

MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini and external Mac drives, with Intel processors as well as T2 chips or Apple silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4).

Why are Macs with a T2 chip or Apple silicon different?

On these Macs the storage and the encryption are tied to the computer's own logic board: the data can only be read on that same board. That is why we evaluate the whole computer and, when the fault is on the board, we repair it.

What should I do in the meantime?

Do not erase or restore the Mac, and do not accept a logic board replacement if you want to keep your information: on Macs with a T2 chip or Apple silicon, any of those actions deletes the data permanently. If it got wet, do not switch it on.

My Mac has FileVault. Can you recover it?

Yes, with your user password or your recovery key. Without them, encrypted data cannot be recovered. More details on our encrypted drives page.

Do you keep a copy of my files?

We do not keep copies of your information once the case is closed, unless you request it.

Will your Mac not power on or start up?

Write to us and we will get back to you straight away, 24/7/365.
